Coach Assignment controls who receives coaching tasks. When a coaching task is created for a driver, it is routed automatically to the coach assigned to one of that driver's groups. Without an assignment, the task is created as Unassigned and waits for someone to pick it up.

How Assignment Works
Assignments are made to a group, not to individual drivers. Assigning a coach to a group assigns them to every driver carrying that group's tag, including drivers added to the group later.
When a task is created:
- The platform looks for assignments matching any of the driver's groups.
- If exactly one matches, that coach is assigned.
- If more than one matches, the most recently created assignment wins.
- If none match, the task stays Unassigned.
Note
To assign a coach to one specific driver, give that driver a group of their own and assign the coach to it. There is no direct driver-to-coach assignment.

When two assignments cover the same group with different coaches, the older row is marked as superseded for new tasks, reflecting the most-recent-wins rule.
Assignment and Access Are Separate
Assigning a coach to a group does not give them access to those drivers. Access comes from the coach's own role and tags – read the articles Roles & Permissions Settings and Tag-based Access Restriction.
The Coach dropdown lists users whose role grants access to the Driver Safety Program. The Add and Edit dialog also checks the coach's tags and warns you when they do not cover the group you selected.
Note
An assignment only decides where new tasks are routed by default. A coach does not need an assignment in order to pick up a task.
