Before exporting or submitting your IFTA data, it’s important to review the IFTA Report to ensure accuracy and completeness. Reviewing the report helps confirm that the correct reporting quarter, vehicles, and jurisdictions are included, reducing the risk of filing errors or audit issues.
Note
IFTA is in BETA and is available only upon request. If you do not see

What to Review in the IFTA Report
When reviewing the IFTA report, focus on these key areas:
- Reporting quarter and timezone
- Jurisdiction totals
- Vehicle-level mileage breakdown
Each of these directly impacts your quarterly IFTA filing.
Step 1: Verify the Reporting Period
- Use the Quarter Selector at the top of the report to select one or more IFTA quarters.
- Confirm the selected quarter(s) match your intended filing or review period.
- Verify the timezone selection (Fleet Timezone or Local Timezone).
Note
Incorrect date ranges or timezone selections can result in under- or
over-reported mileage.
Tip
When multiple quarters are selected, the report aggregates mileage across
all selected quarters.
Step 2: Confirm Jurisdiction Grouping
- The IFTA report is grouped by Jurisdiction by default.
- Each jurisdiction row represents the total distance traveled within that state or province during the selected quarter.
Review each jurisdiction to ensure:
- All expected jurisdictions appear in the list.
- No unexpected jurisdictions are included.
- The total distance per jurisdiction looks reasonable.
Note
You can remove the Jurisdiction grouping. When the grouping is removed,
the table displays a flat list of vehicles, where each row shows a vehicle
along with its jurisdiction and total distance for the selected period.
Step 3: Review Vehicle Breakdown Under Each Jurisdiction
Expand each jurisdiction row to review the vehicle-level breakdown.
When reviewing the list of vehicles:
- Verify that only Qualified Motor Vehicles (QMVs) are included in the report.
- If non-QMV vehicles appear in the report, use the Vehicle Filter to include only the relevant QMV vehicles.
- Confirm each vehicle’s distance looks reasonable for that jurisdiction.
- Check for vehicles appearing in jurisdictions where they are not expected to operate.
Tip
To simplify ongoing IFTA reporting, assign a dedicated tag (for example,
“QMV”) to all Qualified Motor Vehicles and use the Tag filter to quickly
include only eligible vehicles in the report.
Step 4: Check Totals and Consistency
- Ensure each jurisdiction’s total distance equals the sum of the vehicle-level distances.
- Verify that totals update correctly when changing the reporting quarter, timezone, or filters.
- Review the table after any change to confirm the updated data looks consistent and reasonable.
Tip
If something looks off, adjust the reporting period, timezone, or vehicle
filters and review the updated results before exporting.
Note
The IFTA report automatically refreshes when any setting is changed—no
manual re-run is required.
