An Action Plan records the follow-up applied to a driver after coaching. The coach must select one to complete a coaching session, so every completed session carries a record of what was decided.
Action plans are defined by your organization and should reflect your own internal policies.

Standard Action Plans
Four standard action plans are available in every account. They cannot be edited or deleted.
| Face-to-Face Coaching |
Reviewed events with the driver and identified opportunities for safe driving improvement. |
| Written Warning |
Provided face-to-face coaching and a written warning via a Disciplinary Notice Form due to the severity or repetition of the behavior. |
| Escalation - Internal Disciplinary Review |
Further disciplinary action taken internally, such as a final written warning, suspension, or termination. |
| Verbal Warning |
Talked to the driver about their behavior. |
Action Plan Details
Each action plan has two fields:
| Name |
The label the coach sees when completing a session. |
| Description |
What the action plan means. Shown beneath the name in the coaching session, so it is what keeps two coaches recording the same situation the same way. |
To add your own, read the article How to Add or Edit an Action Plan.
Where Action Plans Appear
- In the Action Plan list at the foot of a coaching session, where the coach must select one before the session can be completed. Read the article How to Complete a Coaching Session.
- On the Driver Profile, in the Coaching History tab.
- In the coaching history shown at the top of a coaching session, so a coach can see what was applied last time.
- In Library > Coaching History, in the Action Plan column and its CSV download.
Examples of Custom Action Plans
The examples below show the range of follow-up some organizations record. Define the set that matches your own policies.
| No Action Needed |
The behavior does not require corrective action at this time. |
| Safety Training Needed |
The driver is required to complete a safe driving course. |
| Reprimand (Verbal Warning) |
Direct communication describing the performance problem in detail and explaining the consequences if performance does not improve. |
| Written Warning #1 |
Issued after repeated occurrences. Describes the behavior and the steps already taken. Provided to the driver and to HR. |
| Suspension |
The employee does not work for a defined period. |
| Termination |
Employment is ended. |
Note
Action plans are a record of a decision your organization has made. Selecting an action plan in the app does not carry out any employment action. Employment and disciplinary decisions, and compliance with the applicable law and any collective agreement, remain the responsibility of your organization.
Choosing Your Set
- Keep the list short enough that coaches select consistently. A long list tends to be used unevenly.
- Write a description for every plan. It is what makes two coaches record the same situation the same way.
- Cover the low end as well as the high end. A plan such as No Action Needed stops coaches selecting a warning simply because nothing milder exists.
- Match the names to the language your policies already use, so the record means the same thing to HR as it does to the coach.
