This guide explains how to connect the RZ1 Vehicle Hub to the vehicle’s ignition wire using the RZ1 Auxiliary Input Accessory. When properly connected, the RZ1 detects voltage from the ignition circuit (9–24V) and records ignition ON/OFF status for accurate trip and event reporting.
What You’ll Need
-
RZ1 Hub
-
RZ1 Auxiliary Input Accessory
-
Connecting tools and materials (e.g., butt splice connectors, cable ties, wire stripper/crimper)
Wiring Instructions
- Identify the Ignition Wire
- Locate a wire that provides +12/24V only when ignition is ON
- Common locations: ignition harness near steering column, or ACC/IGN fuse box slot
Tip
Use a multimeter to confirm. The wire should read 0V when OFF and +12/24V when ON
- Connect the Input Line
- Connect Orange
I-IN-2 wire → Vehicle ignition wire
- Use a fuse tap, solder, or crimp for secure connection
- Connect one GND (Black) wire from the accessory to a clean chassis ground.
- Connect the Accessory to the RZ1
- Plug the RZ1 Auxiliary Input Accessory into the I/O port on the RZ1 Hub.
- Ensure the connector is fully seated and locked in place.
- Connect Ground
- Connect at least one GND (Black) wire from the accessory to a clean chassis ground.
- Verify operation

Safety Notes
-
Always confirm ignition source with a multimeter before connecting
-
Do not connect the Orange I-IN-2 wire to constant battery power
-
Use inline fuse protection (1 A recommended)
-
Secure and insulate all connections
