This guide explains how to connect external equipment such as PTOs, switches, or auxiliary systems to the RZ1 Vehicle Hub using the RZ1 Auxiliary Input Accessory. When wired to IN-1 (Yellow) or IN-3 (Brown), the RZ1 detects voltage between 9–24 V and records the signal as a digital input event.
What You’ll Need

RZ1 Auxiliary Input Accessory
Connecting tools and materials (e.g., butt splice connectors, cable ties, wire stripper/crimper)
Wiring Instructions
Identify the Power Source
- Locate a +12/24V circuit or output wire that becomes active when the equipment is operating.
- Examples: PTO output, auxiliary light control, or push-button switch line.
Tip
Use a multimeter to confirm. The wire should read 0V when inactive and +12/24V when active.
- Connect the Input Line
- Choose one of the available input lines:
IN-1 (Yellow) – Digital Input 1IN-3 (Brown) – Digital Input 3
- Connect the equipment’s +12/24V output to the chosen input wire.
- Use a fuse tap, solder, or crimp connector for a secure connection.
- Connect the Accessory to the RZ1
- Plug the RZ1 Auxiliary Input Accessory into the I/O port on the RZ1 Hub.
- Ensure the connector is fully seated and locked in place.
- Connect Ground
- Connect at least one GND (Black) wire from the accessory to a clean chassis ground.
- Verify Operation
- Activate the connected equipment or press the switch.
- Using a multimeter, confirm the input reads 9–24V when active and 0V when inactive.
- In the RoadEazy platform, confirm a Digital In 1 or Digital In 3 event appears.
