The Driver Safety Program (DSP) is a structured coaching workspace in LytxOne™. It takes the safety events recorded by your cameras and devices, organizes them into coaching tasks per driver, and gives fleet managers and coaches the queues, reports, and settings needed to run a repeatable coaching program.
How the Program Works
The program follows the same path for every safety event:
-
Detection – the device identifies driving behavior using AI* or vehicle telemetry.
-
Event – once detections cross the thresholds set in the Coaching Workflow, a coachable event is created and its video is requested.**
-
Routing – the Coaching Workflow assigns a Coaching Status to the event, which decides the queue it lands in.
-
Task – coachable events are grouped into one coaching task per driver and routed to a coach based on your Coach Assignment configuration.
-
Coaching Session – the coach reviews the event videos, adds notes, and selects an Action Plan to complete the session.
-
Insights – completed sessions, recognitions, and scores feed the Insights reports and the Driver Safety Dashboard.

Menu Structure
The Driver Safety menu contains the following pages:
| Dashboard |
The landing page for the module. Summary counters, trend charts, and leaderboards for the selected date range and groups. |
| Agents |
Activity log for the AI coaching agent. |
| Tasks |
The day-to-day work queues. This is where coaching actually happens, and each queue shows a count badge so you can see what is waiting. |
| Insights |
Aggregated reporting on drivers, groups, coaches, behaviors, and the health of the program itself. |
| Library |
Record-level browse views, for looking up an individual event, coaching session, or recognition. |
| Settings |
Program configuration: how behaviors are routed and scored, when coaching escalates, who coaches whom, how long each coaching type has, and what follow-up a coach can record. |
Key Terms
| Detection |
A single instance of driving behavior identified by the device. Detections do not become coaching work on their own. |
| Coachable Event |
A safety event that has crossed the configured detection threshold and carries a coachable Coaching Status. |
| Coaching Status |
The routing decision for a behavior – for example Face-to-Face Coaching, Self-Coaching, FYI Notify, or Positive Recognition. |
| Coaching Task |
One driver plus their open coachable events, packaged as a single work item with a due date and an assigned coach. |
| Coaching Session |
The completed record of a coaching interaction, including the events reviewed, the notes added, and the Action Plan selected. |
| Action Plan |
The follow-up your organization applies after coaching a driver. Required to complete a session. |
| Recognition |
A positive record issued to a driver, either automatically by a workflow rule or manually by a manager. |
| Group |
A tag applied to drivers and assets. Groups are used for filtering, reporting, coach assignment, and access control. |
| Safety Score |
A 0–100 score per driver, calculated from the per-behavior scores in the Coaching Workflow and normalized by distance driven. |
Who Can See What
Access to the Driver Safety Program follows the same model as the rest of the app:
Any user whose role grants access to the Driver Safety Program can act as a coach, within the limits of their tags. Coaches can also be pre-assigned to groups of drivers so that tasks are routed to them automatically – read the article Coach Assignment Settings.
Before You Start
Four settings shape how the program behaves. Reviewing them before your first coaching cycle helps your team get results that match your internal policies:
-
Coaching Workflow – which behaviors are coachable, how they are scored, when detections become events, and when coaching escalates. Read the article Coaching Workflow Settings.
-
Action Plan – the follow-up options your coaches can select. Read the article Action Plan Settings.
-
Coach Assignment – which coach receives tasks for which group of drivers. Read the article Coach Assignment Settings.
-
Safety Due Days – how long each coaching type has before it becomes overdue. Read the article Safety Due Days Settings.
